Kamarajar Government Arts College is a coeducational institution of great repute in the southern part of Tamilnadu. It is established in the year 2007- 2008 with a view to cater to the educational needs of the economically poor and socially deprived students hailing from rural areas in and around Surandai. The college is set up due to the philanthropic service of Hindu Nadar Magimai Committee Sivagurunathapuram, Surandai who has benevolently donated 26 acres of land for the establishment of this College.
The college bears the name the great freedom fighter, patriot and Bharat Rana, Perunthalaivar K.Kamarajar who devoted his life to providing education to all vulnerable sections of the society. During inception, the college offered three undergraduate courses viz B.SC Computer Science, Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Commerce with an intake of 48 students in each discipline.
